Meeting of KEPE researchers with representatives of the Economics & Technology Research Institute (ETRI) of the China National Petroleum Company (CNPC)

 

On Friday, 8^th of May 2026, KEPE welcomed a five-member delegation from the Chinese research think tank Economics & Technology Research Institute (ETRI) of the China National Petroleum Company (CNPC).

The delegation consisted of Qian Xinkun, Executive Director (Head of Delegation), Zhang Yong, Deputy Chief Economist, Chief of Media and Communication, Lin Donglong, President Assistant, Chief of Scientific and Research Department, Chu Chengeng, Chief of Think Tank Media Center and Li Boyuan, Senior Engineer.

KEPE was represented by the Scientific Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of KEPE, Professor Panagiotis Petrakis, as well as KEPE Researchers Dr. Vassilis Lychnaras, Dr. Theodore Tsekeris, and Dr. Ersi Athanassiou.

The meeting took place upon request of the Chinese think tank and focused on the exchange of views regarding the Greek energy market, the recent geopolitical developments, the transition toward a low-carbon economy, and the prospects for possible cooperation between ETRI and KEPE. It was a highly productive discussion and both institutions agreed to establish a channel for regular exchange of views and information and conduct joint research on energy economics and policy issues.
