Panagiotis E. Petrakis is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Economics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

His academic fields of activity include Economic Development, Banking, Investment Appraisal, International Economics, Economic History, and the Greek Economy.

He has served in positions of public responsibility, as a board member and as a member of scientific committees in both the private and public sectors.
